The day
Jack and Molly married at Vasilikon Winery in Kathikas, high on the Laona plateau above Paphos — vineyards at six hundred and fifty metres, a terrace looking straight down the valley, and the kind of long evening light you only get at altitude.
The morning ran in two houses. Molly got ready at a villa near Polis with her bridesmaids, and Jack at his parents’ villa a few minutes away. That second one is a rare thing to film — a groom getting ready in his family’s own house, with people wandering in and out and nobody performing for the camera. We started with Molly and drove across in time for Jack’s last hour.
Then everyone drove up to Kathikas. The ceremony was on the terrace with the valley falling away below and the vines running to the edge of the frame. The atmosphere was just beautiful.
Dinner was estate wine and long tables as the light went. Then Stavros Flatley made a guest appearance, which is not something you plan a shot list around we put the cameras where the crowd was and let it happen. The party ran on from there.

Filming at Vasilikon Winery
Vasilikon sits in Kathikas village, in the Akamas Laona region above Paphos, and it has been run by the Kyriakides family since 1993. The vineyards are at 650 to 700 metres, which matters more than it sounds: the light up there stays usable noticeably longer than it does down on the coast, and the air is clearer. A ceremony that would already be losing its light in Paphos still has half an hour left in Kathikas.
The terrace is the whole point of the venue. It looks out across the valley with the vines dropping away below, so a ceremony there needs almost nothing done to it — the background is already the best thing in the frame. The site runs to about four thousand square metres with cellars, a wine museum and a bar serving estate wines and cold mezze, which gives guests somewhere to spread out between the ceremony and dinner and gives us the quiet corners for portraits.
Two practical notes. It is exposed up there, so we mic for wind on the terrace rather than trusting the day to stay still. And if you are getting ready near Polis or Latchi, allow properly for the drive up — it is a beautiful road and not a fast one, and it is the one part of a winery wedding that regularly runs late.
